‘Exile’ Returns Home: Port Fairy Folk Festival 2018

The live folk show ‘Exile: Songs & Tales of Irish Australia’ is part of the Port Fairy Folk Festival on Friday 9 March 2018.
Port Fairy is home to the largest concentration, per capita, of Irish migrants in Australia and in many ways, ‘Exile’ coming to PFFF2018 is a kind of homecoming.
The show features specially produced documentary visuals by Wind & Sky Productions.

‘Out of the Closets’ Part of Women in Film Festival
We are delighted to announce that ‘Out of the Closets, Into the Streets’ has been selected to screen at the Melbourne Women in Film Festival 2018.
This annual festival endeavours to promote the many talented women who work within all areas of film production, and to encourage and inspire women with creative aspirations to pursue their passions with confidence.
‘Out of the Closets, Into the Streets’ was written and produced by two women and one man: Kathie Mayer, Lucinda Horrocks and Jary Nemo. It was directed by Jary Nemo and features archival footage edited and shot by Barbara Creed.
Wind & Sky Productions has a proud track record of gender equality in production and it is brilliant that our talented creative women are being recognised in this festival.

‘Out of the Closets’ Travels to the USA

‘Out of the Closets, Into the Streets’ has been selected to screen in Philadelphia in the US as part of the Society for Photographic Education Media Festival 2018.
The Media Festival accompanies the Society’s Annual Conference, this year titled ‘Uncertain Times: Borders, Refuge, Community Nationhood.’
The Society for Photographic Education (SPE) has featured a film and video festival of innovative and provocative short documentaries, animation and fiction as part of the Annual Conference since 1995.
We couldn’t be more pleased that ‘Out’ was selected. This will be our first US screening.

Ballarat Writers Festival: Queer Wars, an Interview with Dennis Altman
In a session not to be missed at the Ballarat Writers Festival, Lucinda Horrocks interviews the Australian academic and novelist Dennis Altman AM, one of the world’s most influential writers on sexuality and politics.
In this session Dennis will talk about LGBT rights in a global era, the gay civil rights movement and democracy, and will look back on the era of 1970s gay liberation and the publication of his first influential work Homosexual: Oppression & Liberation.

Ballarat Writers Festival: Writing with Pictures: Wind & Sky Documentaries
Wind & Sky Productions is part of the inaugural Ballarat Writers Festival this year with a session on how writing works in modern documentary storytelling.
In this entertaining hour long interview with Mary DeBrett, Lucinda will show some clips of Wind & Sky films and explore where the ‘writing’ fits in to an audio visual storytelling medium.

Out of the Closets at St Kilda Film Festival
In super-exciting news, ‘Out of the Closets, Into the Streets‘ will be screening at the St Kilda Film Festival as part of the Australia’s Top 100 Short Films. The film will be screening at the St Kilda Town Hall on Monday the 22nd May as part of the 6:15 session.
