Bumper Year for Festivals – Most Cancelled Due to COVID-19

April 12 2020

For Wind & Sky, as for many, it’s been a time of change as we adapt to the COVID-19 crisis.

The beginning of March 2020 was a very different landscape. It looked to be a bumper year for festival screenings as festivals around the world wanted to show our films.

Understandably, most of the festivals have now been cancelled or postponed in response to the public health crisis of the novel coronavirus.

Many festivals made the decision early to cancel or postpone their events, before governments mandated social distancing restrictions. Some are looking at ways to have at least part of their festivals released online so their audiences can still participate in these much looked forward to events.

We fully support the festivals who made the decision to cancel or postpone, as they did so thinking about the safety and wellbeing of their audiences. Most festivals are run on low budgets by hardworking staff and volunteers and we salute their dedication.

We hope everyone is healthy and safe at this time and look forward to seeing you at the other end.
